Cryo Sculpting
Sculpt your body by freezing fat cells. Reduce fat cells by 20-25% with each treatment. Non invasive, no downtime, permanent results.
What is CryoSculpting?
CryoSculpting – also called Cryolipolysis or CoolSculpting – is FDA and Health Canada approved. It is a non-invasive body contouring treatment designed to target and destroy fat cells by freezing them. CryoSculpting has been approved for use on the arms, legs, stomach, back, underneath the chin and other places where there’s fat that won’t seem to disappear with dieting and exercise. The best candidates for this treatment are within 30 lbs of their ideal weight. There is little to no downtime or recovery associated with the procedure. 20-25% of targeted fat cells are naturally broken down and flushed out of your body through your lymphatic system. It’s nonsurgical, noninvasive and very effective. CryoSculpting is not a treatment for obesity. It can help eliminate pockets of excess fat that don’t easily go away with diet and exercise alone. Risks and Side Effects
Some common side effects of CryoSculpting include:
- Tugging sensation at the treatment site. Caused by the vacuum system during your procedure.
- Pain, stinging, or aching at the treatment site. These sensations may begin soon after treatment and up to two weeks after treatment due to the cold temps. A study of 554 crypolipolysis procedures found that discomfort usually lasted 3-11 days and went away on its own.
- These common CryoSculpting side effects will go away on their own after a few weeks.
- temporary redness
- swelling-bruising
- skin sensitivity
- Paradoxical adipose hyperplasia
- A very rare but serious side effect that occurs most in men. This means the fat cells in the treatment site grow larger rather than smaller. It’s not fully understood why this occurs.
Who should avoid CryoSculpting?
CryoSculpting is a safe and effective treatment for reducing body fat. However, those with the following conditions should not receive this treatment as it could cause serious complications.
- cryoglobulinemia (cold sensitive antibodies)
- cold agglutinin disease (disruption in your immune system)
- paroxysmal cold hemoglobulinuria (rare autoimmune)
Understand That CryoSculpting Success Depends On You
CryoSculpting is a permanent solution to fat removal, but only if you maintain your healthy lifestyle. So during the recovery process, know that SUCCESS DEPENDS ON YOU. You’ll need to stick to a balanced diet and regular exercise to maintain your results and keep the fat cells from returning.
How Do I Maximize my Treatment Results?
- Drink at least 2 litres of water daily or .5 oz per pound of body weight – whichever is greater.
- Avoid the use of anti-inflammatory medications such as ibuprofen, naproxen and Celebrex for six weeks after the treatment. The inflammatory response in your body is the mechanism which removes the fat cells and inhibiting the body’s ability to mount a response, may slow the progress of your result following CryoSculpting.
- Eat a calorie neutral diet. If you are eating more calories than you are burning off through normal activity and exercise, the extra calories will be stored as fat. This is the perfect time to evaluate your eating and exercise habits and to make changes if merited to optimize your results.
- Maintain a healthy diet and exercise routine after your procedure.
- Weight gain will prevent you from appreciating your full results.
- Since your lymphatic systems carries away the dead fat cells, eating a lymphatic nurturing diet is important.
- Keep moving! This ignites your lymphatic system. Yoga and stretching exercises, walking, and jogging. Exercise can also aid in reducing any discomfort.
Why do I need to Drink Lots of Water Before and after my treatment?
Drinking adequate amounts of water will help your body eliminate fat cells faster. Stay hydrated before and after the procedure to help your body recovery faster and give the treatment a chance to do its job. Water helps your Lymphatic System to operate efficiently so that the dead fat cells can be eliminated faster. Your water intake should be .5oz per pound of body weight.
What to Expect During A CryoSculpting Treatment
Client’s receiving a CryoSculpting treatment can expect to feel some discomfort from the cold. After several minutes numbness should begin to set in. You can expect none or some of the following symptoms after the procedure. These symptoms may persist for up to several weeks. Symptoms always subside over time and have no long-lasting complications.
- The treated area may be red for up to a few hours after the applicator is removed. This is an expected but temporary effect.
- Bruising, swelling and tenderness can occur in the treated area. This typically resolves within a week or two.
- Nausea, tingling, stinging and cramping in the treatment area are possible on treatment day.
- You may feel a temporary dulling of sensation or itching sensitivity in the treated area. Numbness at the site is common, resolving over 1-3 weeks.
- You will be able to return to your normal daily routine immediately after the procedure.
- It is common for the treated area to feel bloated and to look swollen for the first three weeks after CryoSculpting. Compression tights such as yoga pants or Spanx may feel good to wear during this period.
- A treatment usually lasts about 30 to 60 minutes, depending upon the treatment area, the client and their fat loss goals. Follow-up treatments may be needed. Your Technician will brief you on what to expect and exactly how long your procedure will take.
- You may experience a temporary dulling of sensation or itching/tingling/off sensation that can last for several weeks. 4 to 10 days post CryoSculpting you may notice more intense sensations than during the first few days. This is due to the inflammatory response your body naturally mounts to remove the dead fat cells. For most patients the symptoms are mild to moderate and often are more apparent when trying to sleep.
You may experience:
- deep itching
- tingling
- numbness
- soreness, or tenderness to the touch
- pain or aching in the treated area
- cramping or muscle spasms
- diarrhea
When can I expect to see the changes?
Don’t Expect Dramatic Changes Right Away. You won’t see a change in your body the day after having CryoSculpting done. It takes time for the fat cells to break down and leave your body. Many clients first notice a difference about three weeks after a session and more results two to four months later. However, your body will continue to flush fat for up to six months after a CryoSculpting treatment. You may want to take measurements of your body before the procedure and at intervals following it to track the progress.
